When we exercise, we sweat and lose sodium, if we do not replenish this we cramp, feel nauseous, go into GI distress. Fueling and hydration are probably the most important pieces of the endurance sport puzzle, when it goes right, a well trained athlete can go hard all day. This is evident in the bar constantly being raised in professional and amatuer sports like ironman triathlon, ultramarathons and single and multi-stage cycling events. Of course fuelling becomes more important the longer the event but is still relevant for short (sprint) races because the harder we push, the more we sweat. It doesn't matter if you run a 2hr or a 5hr marathon, if you haven't had enough sodium you will know about it. Level Up is exited to be able to provide this accredited service, using the same sweat testing equipment used in medical environments to measure a patient's sodium level in a sweat sample without the need to exercise, by our qualified staff. The test is simple and results are analysed on the spot, with a hydration plan discussed and sent to the athlete at the end of the session.

The test is performed by placing a device on the forearm to stimulate sweat glands. A very small electrical current is passed through the device for approx. 5min creating a slight itchy sensation. Following this, a collector is placed on the arm and left to sweat for as long as it takes to get enough to test, usually 10-20min. Book here: https://levelupsweattesting.square.site/

Once the sample is collected, it is put through the analyser, your result is plugged into the computer to generate your individualised hydration plan. We also discuss sweat rate and if you haven't calculated this, here's a fantastic resource: https://www.precisionhydration.com/performance-advice/hydration/how-to-measure-your-sweat-rate/?srsltid=AfmBOor6cW9mLIg8IVYf1WG6z-auw8wpMO07CNQwhZu5bZEyT41SXEsF
